Obituary for Edward A. Mayer
Edward A. Mayer - Age 80, beloved husband of 56 years of Louise (Kruger) Mayer died Monday at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Cambridge after a courageous battle with his illnesses.

He was born in Fairhaven, August 7, 1930, the son of the late Joseph and Clementine (Govoni) Mayer and lived in Fairhaven for many years before moving to Billerica in 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Mr. Mayer enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at their home on Lake Winnisquam and also enjoyed boating and woodworking.

He was the Owner of Commonwealth Lock Company in Cambridge since 1964 where he worked with all of his children. He was a Life Member of the Billerica Lodge of Elks, a Charter Member of the Billerica Sons of Italy, a member of the VFW Solomon Post and the Massachusetts Locksmith Association.

Besides his wife, Mr. Mayer is survived by his daughters, Cathy-Ann Accomando and her husband Robert and Paula Krochune and her husband Russell of Billerica and Sue Mayer of Bedford; his son, Christopher Mayer and his wife AnnMarie of Pelham, NH; his sister, Alice Mayer of Fairhaven and his grandchildren, Tamara O'Donnell and Nicole and Eric Mayer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Mayer was the brother of the late Joseph and Romeo Mayer and Gertrude Burgess.

MAYER - Of Billerica, formerly of Fairhaven, Oct. 4, Edward A. Mayer. Visiting hours will be held Thursday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 3-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday at St. Theresa Church, 470 Boston Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital Fund, 165 Cambridge St., Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
