Edna V. Thompson, age 87, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Southeast Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in North Easton.
Born in Manila, Philippines on April 23, 1938, Edna was born of the late Alfredo and Fortunata (Cruz) Viray.
She received her degree in Bachelors of Science in Education from University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. She majored in Language and Literature and minored in Social Work. She taught for a long time in La Salle Greenhills and then for a few years in Macau, Hongkong before moving to Oregon in 1987 to get married.
Edna is survived by her sister-in-law Rosalina Bautista of Mandaluyong, Philippines; her nephew Nomer Bautista and wife Lieza and children Nicole, Jeffry and Jason, and great grand nephew Carter of Hong Kong, SAR; her niece Divina Bulan and her husband Leonardo and daughter Ali of Mandaluyong, Philippines; and her niece Mira Burns and her husband Robert and son Michael of Mansfield, MA. In addition to her parents, Edna was predeceased by her husband, Robert G. Thompson and her brother, Avelino Bautista.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 9, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Road, Billerica, MA. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew the Evangelist at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Road, Billerica, MA. Interment in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica MA.
