Edmond J. Kirby, age 78, beloved husband of Stacy F. (Thomas) Kirby died unexpectedly Wednesday at their home.
He was born in Boston, August 23, 1947 a son of the late Robert J. and Eleanor (Canty) Kirby and lived in W. Roxbury before moving to Billerica in 1991.
Ed proudly served in the US Marine Corps. from 1968 – 1971 with a tour of Duty in Vietnam as a motor vehicle operator attaining the rank of Lance Corporal.
After his time in the Marines, Ed went onto a long career as a master mechanic and transmission specialist for several local Ford dealerships including Muzzi Ford, Acton Ford and the former Iverson Ford. He was a member of the Billerica Rod and Gun Club, a hunting enthusiast, marksman and was the founder of the military reunion group, 3rd155/175, MM Gun Battery.
Besides his wife he is survived by five daughters, Doreen Bowden and her husband Joseph of Haverhill, Debra Kirby of N. Attleboro, Stacey Kirby of N. Attleboro, Kristina Kirby of Woburn and Arianna Kirby and her fiancée Eric Simpson of Woburn; four brothers, Robert Kirby and his wife Guilaine Roussel of CA, Richard Kirby and his wife Marianne of Plymouth, James M. Kirby of Milton, and Kevin Kirby and his wife Susan of W. Roxbury; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Jordan, Riley, Grace, Reganne, Erin and Aidan as well as his two great-granddaughters. He was the father of the late Dana Kirby, the nephew of his very special late aunt Mae Canty, the brother of the late Charles Kirby and the owner of his late doggie and best friend, Rhodie Kirby.
Ed Kirby was a wonderful man, father and friend who will be incredibly missed.
Visiting hours will be held, Tuesday, October 14, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, October 15, at the Linwood Cemetery, 41 John Ward Ave., Haverhill, MA at 12 noon. PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY AT THE CEMETERY.
