Obituary for Dr. Robert J. Calabrese
Dr. Robert J. Calabrese - Age 63, beloved husband of Linda L. (Biagiotti) Calabrese died unexpectedly Friday at their home.
He was born in Peekskill, NY, December 20, 1945, the son of the late Nicholas and Rosina (Carmeciolli) Calabrese and lived in Hartville, OH before moving to Billerica 25 years ago.
Dr. Calabrese served as the Superintendent of Billerica Public Schools for 22 years until his retirement in 2006. The town named the stadium at the Marshall Middle School the Dr. Robert J. Calabrese Stadium. He continued to promote education after retiring by working for the Merrimack Education Center.
Dr. Calabrese served as the charismatic Master of Ceremonies at the Dollars for Scholars Trivia Night for many years. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Billerica Boys and Girls Club and the Merrimack Education Collaborative. He had served as the President of the Merrimack Valley Superintendents Association and the Merrimack Valley Rotary. He was a member of the Yankee Doodle Homecoming Committee, Phi Beta Kappa, Harvard Roundtable, Mass. Association of School Superintendents, Billerica Sons of Italy and the Ditson School Building Committee. He was a very caring and loving man to all whose lives he touched.
Besides his wife, Dr. Calabrese is survived by his 2 sons, Christopher Calabrese and his wife Stephanie of New York City and Peter Calabrese and his wife Kristen of Irvington, NY; his loving grandchildren, Jack, Chloe, Grace and Luke Calabrese. He is also survived by Linda\'s children, Steven and Jessica Danehey of Billerica.

Visiting hours will be held Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dr. Robert J.
