Dorothy M. (Davies) Murray, age 84, beloved wife of Ronald G. Murray for over 60 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 10th, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, after a period of declining health.
Born in Somerville on October 2, 1940, Dorothy was the youngest of five children of the late Kenneth V. and Evelyn (Dempsey) Davies. She was raised in Belmont and later lived in Waltham before settling in Billerica more than 50 years ago.
Dorothy worked as an accountant at the former AMRAY Corporation in Bedford, where she built many lasting friendships. She was also a dedicated volunteer with the Billerica Scholarship Foundation, serving for many years as its secretary a role she took great pride in. A devoted New England Patriots fan, she rarely missed a game and spent her Sundays cheering on the team with unwavering enthusiasm.
In addition to her husband, Ronald, she is survived by her daughter, Karen Sampson of Los Angeles; her two sons, Patrick Murray of Chelmsford and Brian Murray of Florida; her grandchildren, Casey Sampson of Los Angeles and Ronnie Murray of Florida; and many beloved members of the Davies family of Arlington.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Visitation on Wednesday, July 16th, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Road, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Billerica Scholarship Foundation at www.billerica.dollarsforscholars.org. As per her wishes, all other services will be private and held at the convenience of her family.
