Our beloved angel, Dorothy M. Linton, passed away peacefully, on the morning of Monday, April 17th. Dorothy was born on October 22, 1930, in Somerville, MA. She was one of six children to the late Blair and Laura (Redmond) Miller.
Dorothy grew up in Somerville, MA, where she attended Somerville High School and graduated prior to meeting the love of her life, the late Samuel (Uncle Eddie) Linton. They were bonded in matrimony on September 12th, 1953. Theirs was the perfect union for 46 wonderful years.
Dot and Ed raised their only daughter, Laura Jane, in Framingham, where Dottie cherished the moments of being a loving wife and mother. She worked at Sears, and later at Wilson Lumber when the family moved to Concord for 22 years. They moved to Billerica, MA in 1998.
Dottie had a kind and gentle soul and her family and friends meant the world to her. When you were in her presence, you felt like only you mattered because she had so much love for everyone. She enjoyed baking, craft making, and knitting gifts for all whom she loved dearly. No one could top her Sour Cream Coffee Cakes! Dottie took time to make those special cakes for birthdays and during the holidays, and they were treasured year after delicious year, along with the lovely ornaments she made family members at Christmas. In addition to traveling extensively with her husband, Dottie enjoyed donating her talents to the annual fair for the First Congregational Church of Billerica, where she attended church for many years.
Dorothy is survived by one sibling; Shirley Harris Sprague, her Godchildren, many nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings; Howard Miller, Alice (Miller) Dixon, Douglas Miller, and Rita (Miller) McIsaac. We have no doubt that she is now in the loving arms of the people she treasured most, but very sadly lost way too soon; her loving husband, Samuel Edward Linton, and their cherished daughter, Laura Jane Linton.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 23, at the First Congregational Church of Billerica, 18 Andover Rd., Billerica from 1 – 2 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 2 p.m. All other services will be held privately and at the convenience of her family.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be mailed to First Congregational Church in Billerica, 18 Andover Road, Billerica, MA 01821-1916.
