Billerica - Dorothy G. (Hardy) Kirchner, beloved wife of Charles E. Kirchner died Monday at the Blaire House of Tewksbury after a period of declining health at the age of 90.
Dottie was born in Arlington on April 15, 1933. The only daughter of the late George and Florence (Cheney) Hardy. After she married Charlie (her only love), they moved to Billerica where she lived for over 60 years.
She enjoyed her work and socializing at the Towne Plaza where she was employed at numerous places, including Stuarts, the Drug Store, the Bank and Market Basket.
She was proud to have worked her way up Office Manager for the town of Bedford in the Assessors Office where she finished her career. She enjoyed country western dancing and everything in the sun, especially Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester where she was fondly known as Barbara Bush. In her later years she looked forward to boat cruises and her annual trek with her many friends to Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Dottie’s top priority was her family, she was always there for everyone throughout the years. She loved the holidays and cookouts in the summer with her children, grandchildren, friends and the late Tom and Eleanor Doherty and their family.
She is survived by Richard Kirchner and his wife Elizabeth of Gloucester, James Kirchner and his wife Michelle of Billerica, Linda Lemelin and her husband Andre of Kingston, NH; her grandchildren, Max, Derek, Paul, Angela, Emily, Joey, Nicole and Samantha as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Robert “Bob” Kirchner and sister of the late Donald Hardy.
A visitation will be held Friday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Road, Billerica from 10 -11am followed by a brief prayer service at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Central Cemetery in Dunstable. Funeral Director Dean M. Laurendeau. www.sweeneymemorialfh.com
