Obituary for Donald J. Porell
BILLERICA – Donald J. Porell, age 83, husband of Arlene (Jean) Porell and the late Joan H. (Lynch) Porell died Monday at the Life Care Center of the Merrimack Valley. Born in Sanford, ME on May 5, 1929, he was the son of the late Ernest J. and Julie (Doiron) Porell and was a longtime Billerica resident before moving to Florida and most recently Tyngsboro. Mr. Porell grew up in North Billerica and was a graduate of Howe High School. After high school, he served in the US Navy as a Navy “Frogman” with the Underwater Demolition Team during the Korean War and was a Foreman for General Electric in Lynn for over 20 years. In his early years, he was an amateur pilot, which led to a lifelong love of aviation. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Julie Delillo and her husband Brian of Melrose; two sons, John “Jack” Porell and his wife Lisa of Billerica and Donald Porell of NH; two step-sons, David Laskowsky and his wife Karen of Tyngsboro and Matthew Laskowsky and his wife Vicky of VA; one brother Robert Porell and his wife Debbie of FL. Loving grandfather of Kevin, Michael and Jessica Cann, Connor and Benjamin Porell, Derek and Corey Laskowsky and great-grandfather of Kailyn Cann. PORELL – Of Tyngsboro, formerly of FL and Billerica, Oct. 1, Donald J. Porell. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday October 6, at St. Andrew’s Church, 35 Talbot Ave., N. Billerica at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica . In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
