Obituary for Donald H. Kirkness
Donald H. Kirkness – Age 81, husband of the late Catherine R. (Casey) Kirkness died Tuesday at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley. He was born in Medford, May 3, 1933, the son of the late Harold A. and Mildred L. (Sargent) Kirkness and was raised in Somerville before moving to Billerica in 1963. Mr. Kirkness served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as an Iron Worker for Local 7 for 34 years. Aside from spending time with his family, he had a passion for sports, art and music. The family would like to thank the staff at the Life Care of Merrimack Valley for the love and care they gave their father. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Haines of Billerica, Kim Zincavitch and her husband Stephen of Nashua, Sandra Chiasson and her husband Kenneth of Pelham and Diane Chiavaras and her husband George of Clinton; his sons, Donald Kirkness and his fiancé Marie Mee of Lowell, Steven Kirkness of Billerica and Kevin Kirkness of Watertown; his brother, Lawrence Kirkness of FL; his sisters, Florence Labossier of Somerville, Grace Pennell of FL and his twin sister, Dorothy Kirkness of Natick; his grandchildren, Sandy, Brian, David, Adam, Lauren, Casey, Matthew, Michael, Katharine and Hayden and his great grandchildren, Dario, Jason and Julie. He was the grandfather of the late Deanna Kirkness and brother of the late Arthur Kirkness. KIRKNESS – Of Billerica, Dec. 16, Donald H. Kirkness, Visiting hours will be held Friday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 9-10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Church, 796 Boston Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
