Obituary for Donald W. Danton
Donald “Don” W. Danton, age 78, beloved husband of the late Patricia “Patti” (Parragona) Danton died Thursday, October 21, 2021 in Orlando, FL after a brief illness. His three children were by his side.

Don was born in Portland, Maine on January 12, 1943. He was raised and spent his childhood in Arlington, MA. After his time served in the U.S. Navy he returned to Arlington where he met his soulmate Patti and they married in 1966.

Prior to his move to Port Orange, FL in 2000, he resided in Arlington and later moved to Billerica, MA where he raised his family. He had a short move to Pelham, NH, however Arlington and Billerica are where he called home.

Don served in the U.S. Navy where he was a Machinist on the USS Vermillion in the Seabees division. He traveled the world and shared many stories of this time in the Navy. In his retirement years he was a proud member of the Navy Seabee Veterans of America, Daytona Beach Chapter. He enjoyed time spent with his fellow veterans and helping in the community.

Don was an executive with Pepsi for 33 years prior to his retirement. He prided himself in his work and when you asked him, “What is the difference between Coke and Pepsi?” he would say, “I am!” After his retirement from Pepsi, he built a successful health insurance business in Florida. One of his clients said, “He was the most honest and most knowledgeable and proficient in the field and he wholeheartedly helped all his clients.” He just wanted to help everyone and in any way he could. This is how Don lived his life every day.

In Don’s free time he enjoyed fishing and loved sharing stories about his days down at Race Point. He loved the beach and loved when his family would visit him in Florida and spend the day at Ponce Inlet. He was a wonderful host, always having a new favorite spot for his family to try and was a great sport when he was dragged to endless amusement parks. Don loved his grandkids with his whole heart. He truly enjoyed attending their birthday parties and their many sporting events when he visited from Florida.

He is survived by his children, Julianne “Julie” Hession and her husband Joseph of Londonderry, NH, Stephanie Carroll and her husband Dennis of Hanson, MA, and Frank Danton and his wife Caitlin of Hudson, NH. He was proud Papa to Joey, Jake, Ryan, Matty, Kyle, Evan, Charlotte, and Paisley. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Terri Avery and her husband Jack of Marston Mills, MA and his nieces, nephew, and many life-long friends.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, November 18, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. A Graveside Service will then be held Friday November 19, at St. Joseph Cemetery, 96 Riverneck Rd., Chelmsford at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
