Denis K. Caulfield Jr., age 67, beloved husband of Karen L. (Flaherty) Caulfield and cherished father of Daniel and Kayla died surrounded by the love of his family and friends on Tuesday June 30, 2026 at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center.
He was born in Cambridge, April 20, 1959, a son of the late Denis K. Sr. and Mary C. (Lucey) Caulfield and had been a Billerica resident since 1995.
Denis graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in 1977 and then joined United Association Local 537 Pipefitters Union for a career that spanned over 40 years. His former employers included Carrier, Johnson Controls, Suffolk Downs, and Boston Housing Authority.
In his spare time he enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, was an avid Boston Globe reader and loved traveling to Vermont with his best friend Peter Nugent. He also liked going for walks, planting tomatoes, and tapping maple syrup. Additionally, Denis was exceptionally proud that he was the father of two college graduates.
Besides his wife and children, he is survived by his siblings and their families - Kathleen, Barry and his wife Stephanie and daughter Jennifer, and Paul as well as many union co-workers, neighbors, and friends.
Karen, Daniel, and Kayla would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Billerica first responders and staff at Leahy Hospital for their care and expertise during this time.
A Celebration of Denis’s Life is being planned for a later date.
