Obituary for David J. Little
BILLERICA – David J. Little, age 93, beloved husband of the late Helen M. (Fermoyle) Little, died Thursday at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Winchester, September 19, 1921, a son of the late Robert H. and Mechtilde V. (Donovan) Little and lived in Bedford before moving to Billerica in 1944. Mr. Little served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II and was a Letter Carrier and Clerk for the US Postal Service, working at the Billerica Center Post office for 35 years before retiring in 1986. His early career with the Postal Service was spent on the mail train to New Hampshire. He said that was his favorite job, and he always missed it. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Billerica Lodge of Elks and the Bedford American Legion. He loved travelling with his family, the mountains of New England, and hikes in the woods. He enjoyed British comedies, trips to Foxwoods, and scratching lottery tickets. He was a voracious reader; he loved mysteries, short stories, and history (especially the Revolution and the Civil War). He is survived by two sons, Terrance Little and his wife, Charlene of Bradenton, FL, and Dennis Little of Billerica; one daughter, Linda Little of Billerica; as well as seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert and Paul Little, Anne Folsom and June Gallahan, and was the uncle of the late David Little and Michael Fermoyle. LITTLE – Of Billerica, formerly of Bedford, April 30, David J. Little. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. It being his request all other services will be held privately and at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Charity of One’s Choice.
