Clayton A. Bulmer – age 84, beloved husband of Margaret “Chris” (Landry) Bulmer, died peacefully Saturday, January 3 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born in Boston on August 5, 1941, the son of the late Roy and Eileen (Doyle) Bulmer and was raised in Hyde Park. He made his home in Billerica in 1968, where he spent his life with his family and his friends who he considered family.
Clay served as a fireman for 8 years in the Coast Guard Reserves. In addition, he worked as a mechanic for Sears for over 40 years and then taught for an additional 18 years in the Automotive Department at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School, prior to his retirement in 2015. Two of his biggest passions were hockey and golfing with friends. Clay was an amazing husband, father and Papa and lived a wonderful life. His greatest love was his family, and his favorite memories were summers spent with them on the farm in Canada. He will be greatly missed, although his family is comforted that he is no longer suffering and that he is reunited in heaven with his grandson, Alec.
Besides his wife, Clay is also survived by his sons, Scott Bulmer & Darlene Hemenway and Keith Bulmer & his wife, Laura, and his daughter, Holly Cunningham & Jeff Page, all of Billerica. Additionally, he was the proud Papa of Lydia, Nicholas, Cassidy, Ethan, Alec, Kaleigh, Kaitlyn, Brendan and Gabriella and his great grandson, Jackson. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and many life-long friends who he considered family and who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 8 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. with a Funeral Service being held at 12 p.m. His burial, with military honors, will be held at the Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica.
