Obituary for Charles T. "Tom" Henckler
CHELMSFORD – Charles “Tom” Henckler, age 77, beloved husband of Constance “Connie” Charron and the late Patricia A. (Quinlan) Henckler passed away August 31st after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on April 20,1944 in Bar Harbor, ME., he was the son of the late Charles W. and Inez (Fennelly) Henckler. Tom was raised in Mt. Desert Island, Maine and was a graduate of Mt. Desert Island High Class of 1962. He lived in Billerica for over 35 years and was a resident of Chelmsford for the past 15 years.
Tom worked at Barnstead Company and AMRAY Inc. in quality control for over 30 years. He was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus where he was able to support many charitable causes.
Tom’s favorite times and memories were spent being a dad and grandfather. He enjoyed listening to his albums, telling “grandpa” jokes, working with his sons on his ’62 Chevy Impala, and taking his daughter to dance and piano lessons. He enjoyed bringing his family to Mt. Desert Island every summer for vacation to spend time with their extended family. Tom will forever be known as a quiet, kind, and caring man who never complained and fought courageously throughout his illness.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Charles W. Henckler and his wife Laura of Chelmsford and Michael Henckler and his wife Kristen of Winchendon; daughters Christine Hizny and her husband Adam of Billerica, Ambre Charron of Chelmsford, Nicole Reedy of Nashua, NH and Denise Rogers of Ayer; brother Donald Henckler and his wife Joyce of Kittery, ME; sister Martha Gladstone of Bangor, ME as well as his grandchildren, Charles, Jr. “Bubba”, Katherine, Milo, Colin and Emma, Mandy, Livvy, Charlie, Sammy and Dylan; and his sister-in-law Kathleen Gale of Chelmsford and brother-in-law James P. Quinlan II of Texas.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 7th from 4 – 7 p.m. at SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 8, at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org
