Obituary for Charles D. Balkan
Charles D. Balkan – Age 69, husband of the late Annamarie (McDowell) Balkan died Sunday unexpectedly at the Boston Medical Center. He was born in Boston, May 8, 1945, a son of the late Charles and Thelma (Young) Balkan and lived in Billerica for most of his life. After graduating high school in Billerica, Mr. Balkan served in the US Navy. He was employed as a Truck Driver for UPS for 38 years having retired in 2005. He volunteered at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley and enjoyed boating, fishing, and making people laugh. He is survived by his daughter, Darlene Vacca and her wife Toni of Billerica; his sons, Charles Balkan Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Nashua, NH, Gary Balkan of Billerica, Ronald Balkan and his wife Michelle of Nashua, NH, Michael Balkan and his wife Wendi of Tyngsboro and Thomas Balkan of Billerica, his brother, Jack Balkan of FL; his sisters, Marie Balkan of FL and Donna McNulty of Billerica. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and his beloved dog, Caesar. BALKAN – Of Billerica, March 8, Charles D. Balkan. Funeral Thursday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. A graveside service will be held at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
