Obituary for Catherine "Kay" J. Mullen
Catherine “Kay” J. Mullen – Age 87, wife of the late Thomas M. Mullen Jr. died unexpectedly Monday at the Benchmark Senior Living at Billerica Crossing.
She was born in Boston, September 20, 1929, a daughter of the late Edward and Hazel (MacGregor) Brogie and lived in Chestnut Hill and moved to Billerica 59 years ago.
Mrs. Mullen was an active communicant of St. Theresa Church and was a member of the Women’s Club, St. Vincent DePaul and was also a Eucharistic Minister.
She was a member of the Billerica Garden Club, the Historic Society, was on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Billerica and enjoyed volunteering at the Billerica Senior Center. She was also was awarded Woman of the Year from the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Billerica in 2004 and Senior Citizen of the Year from the Billerica Council of Aging in 2013. Kay was a Pen Pal at the Ditson elementary school for the past 25 years. She will be missed by family and friends as well as her Billerica community.
Mrs. Mullen is survived by her daughter, Mary Kaye Miln and her husband Peter of Pepperell; her sons, Thomas Mullen III and his husband Michael Younger of Boston, John Mullen and his wife Charlene of Billerica, Stephen Mullen of Billerica and Robert Mullen and his companion Maryann Cann of Groton. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Samantha (Miln) Bartelson and her husband Jason, Stephen, Scott and Sean Miln, Thomas, Julie and Dylan Mullen and two great grandchildren, Graden Kyle and Ella Kaye.

Mullen, Visiting hours will be held Wednesday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 3-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at St. Theresa Church at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Her burial will be private in Holy Hood Cemetery, Boston. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Theresa Church, One Grace Ave., Billerica, MA 01821.
