Obituary for Caroline T. "Honey" Vitale

Caroline T. “Honey” Vitale – age 82, beloved wife of William R. Vitale died peacefully Friday, September 9 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading.

She was born in Billerica, August 26, 1940, a daughter of the late Carmine A. Debenedictis Sr. and Theresa (Robbio) DeBenedictis and was a lifelong resident of Billerica.

Caroline was an active member of the Red Hat Society having served as the Vice Queen. Known to all as Honey, she was known for her uncanny ability to recall every event and milestone in the lives of all who knew her and could recite the date of their life event be it a birthday, anniversary, birth, marriage, anniversary, holiday and any event worth recognizing. Her recognition of others was followed by a perfectly titled and well versed greeting card along with a simple personal note earning her the distinction and informal title as “The Dutchess of Hallmark.” Her favorite times were holidays, spending time visiting her large, extended family.

Besides her husband, Caroline is survived by her children, Joseph Vitale of Kansas and Andrea Vitale of California; her brothers, Daniel DeBenedictis of Billerica, Vincent DeBenedictis of NH, Anthony DeBenedictis of NH, Angelo DeBenedictis of Carlisle and Peter DeBenedictis of Ohio; her sisters, Agnes Spinney of Billerica and Pauline deDiego of Pepperell and is also survived by her five grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Carmine, Lawrence and Paul DeBenedictis and Anna Mason.

A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 13 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston  Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Her burial will take place in the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Officer Harold L. Vitale Memorial Fund Inc., 99 Conifer Hill Drive, Suite 202, Danvers, MA 01923.
