Obituary for Carol A. Donlan
BILLERICA – Carol A. (Cronan) Donlan, age 73, beloved wife of Francis G. Donlan died Sunday at their home surrounded by her family. She was born in Boston, Friday, Sept. 13, 1940, the youngest daughter of the late Edward and Alice (Waters) Cronan. She grew up in Charlestown, where she met the boy next door who became her husband of 54 years. They moved to Billerica to raise a family in 1962. Mrs. Donlan worked at Saints Medical Center in Lowell for 27 years as the Infection Control Manager and held an advanced certification in infectious diseases, as well as a BSN in Nursing and an Associates degree in Mental Health. She was also a founding member of the Nursing Honor Society at UMASS Lowell as well as being an avid gardener who loved watching birds, working on needlepoint projects and keeping fit with water aerobics. She was happiest surrounded by friends and family, laughter and good times. Besides her devoted husband Francis, she is survived by one son, Frank Donlan and his wife Kathy of Londonderry, NH; one daughter, Susan Morgan and her husband David of Derry, NH; one sister, Eleanor Hill of Revere MA and now Lynnfield; six grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Jillian, Shealagh, Brenna and Andrew as well as many nieces, nephews and a wide circle of dear friends. She was also the younger sister of the late Edward Cronan, Alice Carr and Helen Patterson. DONLAN – Of Billerica, formerly of Charlestown, June 1, Carol A. (Cronan) Donlan. Funeral Thursday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church Billerica at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. Private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden will be held at a later date.
