Obituary for Carmela C. LeMaitre
Carmela C. (Mayo) LeMaitre, age 89, beloved wife of the late Arthur G. LeMaitre died Friday after a brief illness.
She was born in Lyndhurst, NJ, November 24, 1930 the daughter of the late Alfredo and Columbia (Meola) Mayo and has been a Billerica resident since 1966.
Mrs. LeMaitre graduated from Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School in Newark, New Jersey. She worked as a Claims Analyst for Prudential Insurance in Newark ,NJ where she met her husband Arthur. Soon after they both relocated to Billerica . Carmie worked for many years at JC Penny in Billerica where she made lifelong friends.
Carmela was a parishioner of St. Theresa Church in Billerica, a member of the Sunshine Girls, the Red Hat Society and was active at the Billerica Senior Center. She was known for her love of thrift stores , hats, scarves and anything that sparkled. Her love of family , friends and community was without measure.
She is survived by her son, Glenn LeMaitre of Everett and granddaughter Chloe LeMaitre of Pelham, NH . She was the Nana to the late Julian G. LeMaitre and sister of the late Alfred and Domenic Mayo.
Visiting hours will be held Monday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd. Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Per current State and CDC guidelines face coverings and social distancing protocols will be required at all venues.
