Obituary for Carlos V. Santos
Carlos V. Santos – Age 50, died April 14, 2018 at home with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Lisbon, Portugal June 14, 1967, and was the much-loved son of Leonel R. Santos and Maria H. Santos and grew up in Ludlow, Massachusetts. He lived in Billerica with his beloved wife Lynne Santos, and children Carolyn and Tommy Santos. Besides his parents, wife and children, Carlos is also survived by his twin brother Lee Santos and his wife Amy, and their children Noah, Abigail and Sophia, brother Lou Santos, sister Rosemary Santos and her partner Joel Paladino and their daughter Sabrina. He leaves behind his in-laws Charles and Leigh Fosberry, brother in-law Mark Fosberry and his wife Donna, and their children Morgan and Ella. Along with his family and many friends in the U.S., he leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins in Portugal and France who have held him in their thoughts and prayers during his illness.
After graduating from Ludlow High School in 1985, he attended the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. He then earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky where he met his wife, Lynne. Carlos was an intelligent person with a quick wit and kind heart who worked as a process engineer for DSM, a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials. Before that, he also worked for Welch’s Food and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was an avid sports fan who was especially passionate about his favorite teams including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins. He enjoyed fishing, movies, vacationing, playing golf and most of all, spending time with his family. He will be incredibly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd, Billerica from 2 to 5 PM on Saturday, April 21. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
