Brian A. Johnson, age 76 of Billerica, died on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Benchmark at Billerica Crossings.
Born in Roswell, New Mexico on August 3, 1949, Brian was a son of the late Elmer and Mildred (Wendler) Johnson. He grew up in Wyoming where he attended public schools and later proudly served in the United States, Navy during the Vietnam War.
Shortly after his honorable discharge from the Navy, Brian worked as an instrumentation and controls technician for 44 years at the Cambridge Electric Light Company; which included the Southern Company, Mirant, GenOn, NRG and Veolia. In addition, he was an active participant for the Utility Workers Union of America, Locals 392 and 369; taking a position as Steward and Chief Steward for many years. Brian was also involved with the Friendship Masonic Lodge.
Brian was a passionate racing enthusiast who loved NASCAR, and for years raced motorcycles at the New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. He could always be seen driving his ‘64 Nova up and down Boston Road in Billerica. In addition, he was an avid collector of Western memorabilia as well as Native American artifacts; hobbies that were inspired from growing up in Wyoming. Brian will always be remembered as a friendly, social butterfly that would say hello to everyone whether in public or a wave from his porch.
Brian is survived by his son, Brian Johnson, Jr. of Billerica; and his daughter, Michelle Johnson, and her partner David MacDonald of Billerica. In addition to his parents, Brian was predeceased by his siblings, Bruce Johnson, and Susan Richard.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 15th at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica, from 1–4 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica on Monday, February 16th at 12:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday at 11:30 a.m., prior to the graveside service.
