Obituary for Brian J. Higgins Sr.
Brian J. Higgins Sr. – Age 90, husband of the late Dorothy R. (Ward) Higgins died Thursday at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Cork City, Ireland, July 23, 1927, a son of the late Thomas C. and Mary (Dineen) Higgins and lived in Billerica from 1967-1998 and then moved to Chelmsford.
Mr. Higgins proudly served in the U.S. Navy for over 22 years having served in both WW II and the Korean War. After leaving the military, Mr. Higgins was employed at the Charlestown Navy Yard and later worked in the Security Department of the Mitre Corp. and GTE Sylvania. He was a Life Member of the DAV and VFW and was a former member of the Billerica Elks and now the Chelmsford Elks.
He is survived by his sons, Brian Higgins Jr. of Chelmsford and Thomas Higgins of Lowell; his daughters, Linda Plowman of Lowell, Deborah Tabares of Dracut and Helen Timpe and her husband Butch of Derry, NH, as well as eight grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Mr. Higgins is also survived by his best friend Rich Auger of Chelmsford.
