Obituary for Brad J. Costedio
Brad J. Costedio, age 59, beloved husband of Kelly J. (Sample) Costedio died unexpectedly Sunday, April 10 at their home in Durham, NC.
He was born in Marlborough, December 5, 1962, a son of the late Warren J. and JoAnn B. (McNulty) Costedio and lived in Billerica all his life before moving to Durham two months ago to begin his next adventure with Kelly, his best friend and partner for over 25 years.
Brad graduated from Billerica Memorial High School in 1980 and earned his degree at North Adams State College. He began his career at Raytheon in their Management Training Program and excelled in the field of procurement. He was employed by MetLife for 18 years where he became the Vice President of Procurement. He was currently the Vice President of Procurement for Parexel in Durham, NC. He was generous to the core with his time and talents and no stranger to hard work.
Growing up, Brad was a natural athlete. He came up through the ranks of the Billerica Hockey Association and continued playing as a goaltender through his high school years and beyond. “Hawkeye” as his father called him, also excelled in cross country track, and enjoyed challenging himself and his athletic abilities, competing in road races and even completing a full Iron Man Triathlon.
Brad’s greatest gift was his ability to always enjoy the party of life and make others laugh along with him. He knew no enemies, only friends. Whether you knew him for five minutes or twenty years, if you were lucky enough to share a Bud Light with Brad, you knew you had a friend you could count on for life! A loyal and generous man who often still attended the annual Thanksgiving football game with his high school buddies. His quick wit and sense of humor will be sorely missed by all.
Brad loved being a father and spending time with his family. Over the years, he became a boating enthusiast and enjoyed traveling to various lakes and waterways around New England to enjoy family vacations on the water. At home, he spent many weekends sharing laughs and working on home improvement projects with his brother Brian or tinkering around the yard on his tractor. Creating beautiful landscaping was a talent he dabbled in over the years. A lifelong, die-hard Boston Bruins fan, Brad rarely missed a game and often enjoyed watching them with his cousin Chuck. It was not uncommon to run into Brad, enjoying dinner and a cocktail with Kelly and the family at one of their local favorite restaurants.
Most of all, Brad was fiercely proud and supportive of the family he and Kelly had raised. He took an enthusiastic interest in every activity his children participated in. From the time they were young, he encouraged his children to approach every challenge, even the most unsurmountable, with bravery and their best effort. Together, he and Kelly always had their backs and cheered them on every step of the way with unconditional love and support.
Besides his wife, Brad is survived by his children, Alec Costedio of NJ, Maxwell Costedio of Dracut, Camryn Costedio and her fiancé Kirsten Vera of Groton, and Jenna Costedio of Billerica; his brother, Brian Costedio of Providence, RI and his sisters, Beth Cain and her husband Chad of Wellington, FL, Bonnie Karoub and her companion Stefan Sargeant of Reading and Brooke Vincenti and her husband Brian of Waterford, CT; Marlane Brosseau, his paternal aunt of Richmond, IN. Additionally, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Eileen Sample, her daughters, Dana Perry, and her husband Doug Ching and Tammy Leyne and her husband Paul, all of Billerica. Brad will also be dearly missed by his many cousins and his nieces and nephews: Veronica, Brennan, Bailey, Zoe, Mia, Lucas, Emme, Christopher, Caitlin, Sophia, and Grace; along with lifelong family friends, the McKenna and McCaffrey families.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 18 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Andrew Church, Talbot Ave., Billerica at 10 a.m. and burial will be private.
