Bette M. (Stetson) Hoyt, 82, a lifelong resident of Billerica, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital. She was the loving wife of Bruce Hoyt for over 65 years.
She was born in Cambridge, MA the daughter of the late Frederick and Rena (Ackerley) Stetson.
Bette lived her life in service to others, enjoyed missionary work, reading her Bible, singing, and sharing the gospel. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Savior, where she was a long-standing member of the church choir. Bette was also one of the founding members of Central Food Ministry in Lowell. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at the former Winco of Chelmsford.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Bruce Hoyt Jr. and his wife Lynn of Gulf Port, MS., Lisa Hurley and her husband William of St. Augustine, FL., Darlene Barsalou and her husband Bruce of Deering, NH., Aprille Abbott and her husband Scott of Billerica, Harold Hoyt and his wife Andrea of Tyngsboro and Gregory Hoyt and his wife Ann of Billerica, sister, Renee Debow and her husband Lawrence of Sanbornville, NH., 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bette was predeceased by her sister Gladys Vittorioso and a brother David Stetson.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her calling hours on Wednesday, March 1, from 4PM to 7PM at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd. Billerica. Her Funeral Service will be Thursday at 11AM at the Lutheran Church of the Savior, 426 Davis Rd. Bedford, MA; interment will follow in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Contributions in her memory may be made to Central Food Ministry, Lowell.
