Obituary for Bessie G. Killeen
Bessie G. Killeen – Age 86, beloved wife of Robert D. Killeen died Monday at their home surrounded by her family. She was born in Springfield, March 21, 1927, the daughter of the late Edward and Bertha (Mills) Gordon and lived in Chester before moving to Billerica in 1955. Mrs. Killeen was an accomplished national artist and was a former teacher of oil painting. She took painting courses at the University of Maine and studied under Helen VanWyke and Roger Curtis. She was a member of the Copley Society in Boston and a former President of the Billerica Arts and Crafts Association. She loved her family dearly, enjoyed traveling, flower gardens and if it were possible would celebrate Christmas every day of the year. Besides her husband, Mrs. Killeen is survived by her daughters, Mary Broden and her husband Robert of Mason, NH and Wendy Wright of Billerica; her son, David Killeen of West Haven, CT; her sister, Joyce Gilli of Westfield and is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mrs. Killeen was the mother of the late Edward Killeen. KILLEEN – Of Billerica, July 1, Bessie G. (Gordon) Killeen, Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, July 3 at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 5 at the First Congregational Church, 18 Andover Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m.
