Obituary for Bernard A. 'Bud' McDewell
Bernard A. “Bud” McDewell Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather Decorated U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II BILLERICA – Bernard A. McDewell, age 92, died Tuesday, March 25, at the Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy P. (Jenkins) McDewell for 64 years. He was also the father of the late Bryan A. McDewell. He was born in Medford, October 18, 1921, the son of the late Frank and Leona (Churchill) McDewell and has been a Billerica resident since he was eight years old. He served as the Chairman of the Planning Board and town meeting representative for many years. He was a Master Mason of the Thomas Talbot AF & AM Lodge in Billerica for 55 years, as well as a life-member of the Billerica Lodge of Elks. Mr. McDewell served in the US Navy during WW II as a Quartermaster Second Class. He earned his degree from Northeastern University in 1959 and was employed as a Mechanical Engineer for Polaroid Corp. until his retirement. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Farmer and her husband Philip of Billerica and Debra Boudreau and her husband Audie of Chelmsford; his son, Barry McDewell and his wife Rebecca of IL; his grandchildren, Philip, Jody, Jennifer, Nicholas and Zachary Farmer, Evan, Dana, Kelsie and Melanie Boudreau, Bryan, Matthew and Michael McDewell and Bonny and Lucas Eyer and10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Edna McDewell and brother Ralph McDewell as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frank, Freeling and Fred McDewell. MCDEWELL –Bernard A. Visiting hours will be held Friday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday at the First Congregational Church, 18 Andover Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn., 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
