Obituary for Bernadette M. Maguire
Billerica – Bernadette M. Maguire – Age 86, beloved wife of the late Francis “Mac” J. Maguire Sr. died Tuesday at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Medford, September 16, 1929, a daughter of the late Jacob and Margaret (McDermott) Anderson and lived in Somerville for many years before moving to Billerica in 1969.
Nana’s legacy began at Schraff's Candy Company where she met the love of her life, Francis "Mac" Maguire who said 'she was the sweetest thing at Schraff's so I just had to ask her out'. Bernie followed him to Alaska to be married and thus began their journey of traveling and raising their 8 children. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family; whether it be her many trips, attending her kids and grandkids functions and celebrations, at the beach in Maine, Winnisquam Lake or listening to her country music, reading or just being with her devoted companions, Bentley and Janey.
She is survived by her son, Francis Maguire Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Hudson, NH; her daughters, Patricia Powderly and her husband Daniel, Denise Adams and her husband Charles, Lisa Strazzere and her husband William and Kathleen Capraro and her husband Joseph all of Billerica, MA Mary Kiriakakos and her husband William of Nashua, Sharon McPadden and her companion Tim of Woburn, MA and Peg Randell and her husband Alan of Hampstead, NH; her brother, John Anderson of Kennebunk, ME. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, Edmund, Steven, Julie, Jeff, Tim, Dan, Michael, Kelley, Nicholas, Andrew, Christopher, David, Jamie, Megan, Ryan, Shawna, Scott, Brendan, Bailey, Josh, Jake and Jill, as well as 12 great grandchildren. She was the great grandmother of the late Hannah Tage Mattson and sister of the late William and Donald Anderson.
MAGUIRE – Of Billerica, Dec. 22, Bernadette M. (Anderson) Maguire, Funeral Monday from the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 1-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association-Manchester Hospice, 1070 Holt Ave # 1004, Manchester, NH 03109.
