Beatrice (Bea) Devlin – Age 83, wife of the late John Devlin III passed away on Sunday, December 4 after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer. She died at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Beatrice (Iappini) Devlin was the eldest of seven children born in Boston to Germano Iappini and Eva (Hurvitz) Iappini on October 26, 1939 and lived the earlier part of her life in Somerville where she raised her children. She married her first husband, Chester Domenici and was the mother of four children, Michael Domenici (Eva), Abby Domenici (Kelly). Two of those four children, Joseph and Karen Domenici predeased her. She married her second husband, John Devlin III in 1970, and two more children were born to them, Kelly (Devlin) Wilcox (Gary) and John IV (Patricia). In 1985, Bea moved to Billerica with her husband and two youngest children, where she remained until her death. She loved to cook for her family, gardening, reading, shopping, and everything Disney including trips to Disney World and Disneyland were other things she thoroughly enjoyed doing. Beatrice worked for Unisys for number of years until her retirement.
Besides her children, she is survived by many grandchildren Kris, Erica, Krystal, Michael Jr., Ashley, Dawn, Devin and Isabelle, as well as, a number of great- grandchildren, Connor, Madelyn, Finn, Kayleigh, Alanna, Anthony, Mason, and Leo.
She is survived by her siblings Alfred Iappini, Marcia Pavluvcik, Charles Iappini, and Susan Iappini and the late Robert Iappini and Gerald Iappini. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Dec. 8 at Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Road in Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Dec. 9 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Her burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s.
