Obituary for Barbara R. Nickerson
BILLERICA – Barbara R. (Francis) Nickerson, age 80, of Billerica Avenue, died Sunday July 26 after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Roland H. “Red” Nickerson two whom she was married for 58 years.
She was born in Billerica, January 17, 1935 a daughter of the late Arthur F. Francis and Ruth (Curtis) Francis and resided in Billerica all of her life.
Mrs. Nickerson was a member of the New England Historical Genealogical Society, American-Canadian Genealogical Society and the Argyle Municipality Historical and Genealogical Society.
She enjoyed cruising to Alaska, visiting Hasaii and the Eastern Caribbean Islands as well as trips to Europe and Moosehead Lake in Maine, but mostly she loved her family and spent many hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Nickerson is survived by her son Dale F. Nickerson of Billerica; one daughter, Dawn R. (Nickerson) Botting and her husband Richard C. Botting III of Billerica, five grandchildren, Erik, Derek and Alex Nickerson, Sara (DaSilva) Cruz and Adam DaSilva; four great-grandchildren, Tiago and Tiana Cruz and Shawn and Taylor Nickerson as well as her cousin, Patricia (Hewins) Halligan and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Dana A. Nickerson and grandmother of the late Dana A. Nickerson Jr.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held Friday at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
