Barbara A. Glover, age 92 of Billerica, died Sunday, July 19th with her family by her side.
Born in The Bronx, New York City on March 4, 1934, Barbara was a daughter of the late William J. and Bertha E. (Goldberg) Young.
She found her greatest joy in the people and pets she loved. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, she cherished every opportunity to bring family together, filling her home with laughter, good food, and unforgettable memories. She took great pride in her career at the Billerica House of Correction, where she dedicated many years of service. She also loved traveling and creating special memories with those she loved. An avid Mahjong player and talented teacher, she enjoyed sharing the game with others and forming lasting friendships around the table. Her kindness, generosity, and gift for making everyone feel welcome will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, David Glover, and her sister, Patti Shea.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Lori Gill and her husband Robert of Billerica, Diane Carr of Chelmsford, Debbi Robson of Tyngsboro, Leanne Grove and her husband Kenneth of Hudson, NH, Kristin Fortune and her husband Arthur of Marshfield, her stepdaughter Lisa Reid and her husband Steve of Oregon, and her stepson David Glover of Lowell. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, July 23rd at Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 11:00 – 12:30 p.m. A Graveside Service will follow in Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Massachusetts Humane Society at www.masshumane.org.
