Obituary for Barbara Ann Walsh
Barbara Ann (DiPrimio) Walsh, age 80, beloved wife of the late James J. Walsh Jr. died Saturday at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Boston, May 10, 1942 a daughter of the late Thomas and Leona (Richards) DiPrimio and lived in Charlestown before moving to Billerica in 1974.
Prior to her retirement Barbara was employed as a nutritionist for the Edith Nourse Rogers Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford.
She is survived by five daughters, Kathleen, Donna, Leona and Eileen Walsh all of Billerica and Maureen Tucker of Chelmsford; three sons, James Walsh of Nashua, NH, Timothy Walsh of Litchfield, NH and Michael Walsh of Billerica; two sisters, Celena Miranda of Salem, NH and Derith Ruggiero of Tewksbury as well as 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to raising a family, Barbara’s accomplishments include Hot Dog Eating Champion (multiple years) and holding the world record for most incorrect crossword puzzles completed in ink. In her free time Barbara also enjoyed amateur weather forecasting, extra-terrestrial research, telling everyone else what they should be doing, and feeding bologna sandwiches to neighborhood dogs and local wildlife. She will be sorely missed.
It being her request all services were held privately and at the convenience of her family.
