Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend
BILLERICA – Arthur H. MacNeill, age 81, beloved husband of Dorothea “Bunny” (Lee) MacNeill died Saturday, September 1st, after more than 55 years of wedded bliss.
Devoted father of Bonnie and her husband Carl Petricca Jr. of Clinton, David MacNeill and his wife Kristine of Tyngsboro, Dawn MacNeill and her fiancé Greg Hamilton of Billerica, and Eric MacNeill of Billerica. Loving Grandfather of Ryan, David, Paige and Mitchell MacNeill. He was the son of the late Harold S. MacNeill and Dorothea Legge, the beloved son-in-law of the late Canute “Bill” Lee and Charlotte Tholander. He was the brother of the late David and Edith MacNeill. He was also a brother-in law to many, uncle and great-uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
He was born in Camden, NJ Aug. 28, 1937. He grew up in Waltham, MA before moving to Billerica, MA 55 years ago.
Mr. MacNeill served in the United States Marine Corps. He attended Bentley College and American International College, then attained his M.B.A. at Boston University. He was a Controller for Hewlett-Packard Company’s Medical Products Group and retired after 35 years. After retirement, he volunteered and substituted at the Locke Middle School. He was a Mason for more than 50 years with the Dalhousie Lodge, F. & A.M. in Newtonville, MA, a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a Dad Advisor for the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, in Billerica, MA. He was previously on the Board of Directors for the Waltham Boys Club and Treasurer of the Bennett Public Library.
He loved spending time at his 2nd home in Cape Neddick, Maine, where he enjoyed the ocean view, his family and friends, and doing puzzles.
MACNEILL – Of Billerica, formerly of Waltham, Arthur H. MacNeill. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd. Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday at the First Congregational Church of Billerica, 18 Andover Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Billerica Minuteman Statue Assn., c/o Enterprise Bank, 674 Boston Rd., Billerica, MA 01821
