Obituary for Arthur M. Curtin
BILLERICA – Arthur M Curtin Jr. age 86, beloved husband of Ellen T. (Power) Curtin to whom he was married for over 60 years, died unexpectedly Monday at their home.
He was born in Reading, June 27, 1931 a son of the late Arthur M. Sr. and Margaret (Griffiths) Curtin and has been a Billerica resident for almost 60 years.
Mr. Curtin served in the US Coast Guard from 1949 until 1952, was a Korean War veteran and graduated from Bentley College in 1955. Arthur then worked as the Treasurer for the Town of Billerica for many years and also worked for JW Greer in Wilmington and for the Worcester Housing Authority.
He was a member of the Billerica Lodge of Elks, the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Billerica DAV, and was active with the Billerica Boys and Girls Club.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Jack Curtin of Billerica, Stephen Curtin and his wife Julie of Arlington; three daughters, Mary Malone of Auburn, MA, Margaret Prescott and her husband Scott of VA and Elizabeth Watson and her husband Dave of CO, as well as eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Arthur Curtin III and James Curtin and brother of the late Edward Curtin, Mary Peters and Patricia McElman.
CURTIN – Of Billerica, unexpectedly Jan. 8. Arthur M. Curtin Jr. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. It being his request there will be no visiting hours. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Billerica, 19 Campbell Rd., Billerica, MA 01821 or to the Billerica DAV Chapter 47, PO Box 12, N.
