Obituary for Arita Lavery
Arita Lavery – Age 86, wife of the late William H. Lavery Sr. died peacefully in her home, that she loved, surrounded by her beloved family who loved her beyond words. She was born in Arlington, November 13, 1925 the daughter of the late Edward J. and Gertrude A. (MacDonald) Langley and lived in Arlington for many years before moving to Billerica 55 years ago. She was an active communicant of St. Theresa Church and a member of the Women’s Club. Mrs. Lavery is survived by her daughters, Linda Byrnes and her husband David, Joanne Conners and her husband Thomas and Dianne Powderly and her husband R. Michael of Billerica; her sons, William Lavery Jr. and his wife Muriel and Robert Lavery and his wife Nancy of Townsend, Edward Lavery and Thomas Lavery and his wife Michelle of Billerica and Charles Lavery and his wife Jennifer of Nashua; her brother, Edward Langley of Woburn and her sister, Joan Sullivan of Winthrop. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Mrs. Lavery was the sister of the late Robert Langley, Thomas Mills and Jean Caddigan. LAVERY – Of Billerica, Dec. 13, Arita Lavery, Funeral Friday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Lavery’s name to either the Billerica Food Pantry, 365 Boston Rd., Billerica, MA 01821, St. Vincent DePaul – St. Theresa Church, One Grace Ave., Billerica, MA 01821, Children’s Hospital 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115, Tufts Medical Center Trust, c/o the Rheumatology Clinic, 800 Washington St. Box 231, Boston, MA 02111 and the N.E. Rehabilitation Hospital, 2 Rehabilitation Way, Woburn, MA 01801. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
