Obituary for Anthony P. Tufts
Billerica – Anthony P. Tufts – Age 85, husband of the late Evelyn A. (Gallagher) Tufts died Thursday at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Bedford, MA.
He was born in Boston, July 17, 1932, a son of the late Frederick and Vivian (McCabe) Tufts and lived in Westford before moving to Billerica in 1972.
Mr. Tufts proudly served in the Army from 1951-1971 and retired as a First Sergeant. He served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. After the military, Mr. Tufts owned Tufts Andover News and also owned his own Carpet Store. In his later years, he enjoyed antiquing with his wife and being active. He was a former member of the Billerica Lions Club.
He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Tufts of ME and John Tufts and his wife Deborah of Haverhill; his daughters, Cheryl Barnes and her husband Max of Fredericksburg, VA, Linda Marino and her husband John of Nashua, NH, Robin Munroe and her husband Stephen of Hudson, NH and the late daughter Debbie Tufts; his sister, Natalie MacLean of Tewksbury and is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
