Anita W. (Guichard) Thomas, 88, of Billerica, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6th, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul J. Thomas.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on May 16, 1937, Anita was the daughter of the late Morris and Jeanne (Wilson) Guichard. She lived in Boston before settling in Billerica in 1970, where she and her husband lovingly raised their two children.
Anita lived a full and vibrant life, staying active in her community through her involvement with the Red Hat Society, the Billerica Council on Aging, and the Emblem Club. She generously gave her time volunteering with local organizations and was a familiar and friendly face at polling stations during elections.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—crocheting, relaxing on her porch, and especially driving around admiring homes for sale. Anita loved imagining the possibilities of each house she saw, often chatting about how she would decorate it if it were her own.
Known for her warm personality and gift for conversation, Anita could strike up a friendship with anyone. She took great pride in her family and never missed an opportunity to share stories about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. With a smile, she often boasted that they all looked just like her. One of her greatest joys was having four generations gathered together in one room at family celebrations.
Her humor, creativity, kindness, and deep love for her family will be remembered always. Anita will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Anita is survived by her son, Paul Thomas Jr., of Lowell, and her daughter, Jeanell Scott and her husband, Bruce, of Westford; her grandchildren, Janita, Thomas, Brianna, and Mikayla; and her nine great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cecilia, Jayden, Landon, Karson, Alexandria, Arabella, Amarra, and Alijah. She was predeceased by her first grandson, Scott Jr.
She was also the sister of the late Maurice, Conway, and David Guichard, Jean Gresham and Diana Cook.
