Obituary for Andrew N. Samprone
CHELMSFORD – Andrew N. Samprone, age 87, died peacefully Saturday at the home of his great-nephew. He was born Rockland, ME, December 28, 1925, a son of the late Francesco and Catherine (Grillo) Samprone and lived in East Boston prior to becoming a longtime Billerica resident and more recently moving to Chelmsford 12 years ago. Mr. Samprone served in the US Navy aboard the USS Missouri earning the rank of Seaman First Class and was onboard when the Japanese surrendered to the United States ending WW II. He was a member of Local #22 the Laborers Union where he was a Steward, loved golf and enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee at Dunkin’s. Mr. Samprone is survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. SAMPRONE – Of Chelmsford, formerly of Billerica and East Boston, April 20, Andrew N. Samprone. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday at Holy Cross Cemetery, 175 Broadway, Malden, MA at 11 a.m.
