Andrew J. Puccino Sr., age 89, husband of the late Joan F. (Sarno) Puccino died Saturday, September 10 at the Benchmark Assisted Living in Billerica with his family at his side.
He was born in Boston, March 14, 1933, a son of the late Joseph Rizzo and Mary (Ferrandini) Puccino. He was raised in S. Boston and lived in Somerville for many years before moving to Billerica seven years ago. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later served over 20 years in the Army Reserve.
Andrew was employed as a Postal Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Arlington prior to his retirement. He was a member and former Past Exalted Ruler of the Arlington Elks.
He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne and spouse Urban Publicover of Billerica; his son Andrew Puccino and spouse Chris Maxedon of Kanab, UT and his son Adam and spouse Melissa Puccino of Groton, CT; his brothers, Frank Puccino of Norfolk, VA, Joseph Rizzo of Rockledge, PA and Ronald Rizzo of Wilmington, DE and is also survived by his four grandchildren - Leah, Adam, Mallory and Richard as well as six great grandchildren - James, Alice, Dennis, Isaac, Abigail and Elliot.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, September 13 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 14 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. His burial with military honors will take place Monday, September 19 at 10:45 a.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
