Obituary for Alvin 'Lefty' R. Smith
Alvin "Lefty" R. Smith - Age 85, beloved husband of Rita M. (Fuller) Smith died Tuesday at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.
He was born in Medford, March 16, 1926, the son of the late Stanley R. and Laura (Fish) Smith and lived in Medford before moving to Billerica 65 years ago.
Mr. Smith served in the Navy during WW II. He was employed as a Technician at the General Radio Company in Concord for over 25 years having retired in 1983. Mr. Smith was a former member of the Billerica Lodge of Elks and the VFW.
Besides his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by his son, Jeffrey A. Smith and his wife Luane of Nashua; his daughter, Nancy Lavery and her husband Robert of Townsend; 5 grandchildren, Robert, Steven and Brian Lavery, Robert Arsenault Jr. and Brian Arsenault and 3 great grandchildren, Andrew, Celeste and Brody Arsenault. Mr. Smith is also survived by his niece and nephews.

Smith, A funeral service will be held Saturday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH 03054. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
