Obituary for Alfred F. Hopkins
Alfred F. Hopkins – Age 90, husband of the late Catherine M. (Messier) Hopkins died Friday at the Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Baltimore, MD, July 10, 1922, the son of the late Jennings and Clara (Ringger) Hopkins and lived in Baltimore and Miami before moving to Billerica in 1962. Mr. Hopkins loved spending time with his family. He also loved football and going to Foxwoods. Mr. Hopkins served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and the Korean War and was a Life Member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. He was employed as an Airline Mechanic for 33 years for Eastern Airlines and retired in 1983. He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Hopkins of Billerica; his sons, Thomas Hopkins and his wife Ruth Whitall of Shrewsbury, Michael Hopkins and his wife Linda of Billerica; James Hopkins and his companion Marion Deschenes of Mason, NH and Paul Hopkins of Billerica. His is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mr. Hopkins was the father of the late Karen Hopkins and great grandfather of the late Robert Hopkins. Hopkins, Funeral Wednesday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contribution may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
