Obituary for Alan R. MacKenzie
BILLERICA - Alan R. MacKenzie, Age 71, beloved husband of Sandra (Flannigan) MacKenzie of Billerica, died Friday, November 9, 2012 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. He was born in Somerville, MA on April 7, 1941, a son of the late Thomas and Doris (Patterson) MacKenzie. He was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School with the class of 1959. Al was employed as an Electrician for 52 years and worked as a member of Local 103 for 40 years until his retirement in 2000. He was also an avid sports fan. Besides his loving wife of 50 years, Sandra, he is survived by six children and their spouses, Alan MacKenzie, Jr. of Billerica, Scott MacKenzie also of Billerica, Christina Reese of Westminster, Debbie Wilson of Lynn, Denise Desrochers of East Wakefield, NH, and Keith MacKenzie of Haverhill. He also leaves behind three sisters, Dawn Cobb of DE, Arlene Johnson of Tewksbury, and Marilyn Kearney of Saugus, brother-in-law Robert Flannigan of GA, 16 cherished grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was also the brother of the late Thomas MacKenzie, Jr., and Doris Newton MACKENZIE- of Billerica, Nov. 9, 2012 Alan R. MacKenzie, A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at the First Congregational Church 18 Andover Rd. Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Monday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd.
