Obituary for Agustin E. Diaz
AgustÃn E. DÃaz – Age 92, beloved husband of Olga (Santiago) DÃaz died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, May 25, 2017.
He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, August 28, 1924, a son of the late Enrique and Gerónima (Rosa) DÃaz and has lived in Massachusetts since 1984 and most recently in Billerica for three years. He held a Business Administration BA. He was devoted to his family, a life-long learner, avid reader and enjoyed sharing his financial expertise.
Mr. DÃaz served in the U.S. Army during WW II in Puerto Rico. Most of his career was in private and public service in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. He held executive level positions with the Import and Distribution Corporation, the Economic Development Administration, Tourism Development Agency, Weights and Measures and as Undersecretary of Commerce. He also held a diplomatic post with the United Nations in Central America.
Besides his wife, Mr. DÃaz is survived by his daughters, Ivette Manrique and her husband Ivan of Ayer, Bonnie DÃaz-Torres of Billerica and Michelle DÃaz-Collins and her husband Michael of Methuen; his son-in-law, Wilson Torres of Burlington; his brother, Victor DÃaz and his wife Josie of TN, nine grandchildren, AgustÃn and his wife Kim Manrique, Eduardo Manrique, Olga and her husband Greg Hopkins, Lisette and her husband Nicholas Miller, Heidi and her husband Matthew Smith, Johanna Torres and her fiancé Kevin Enwright and Michiko, Quentin and Trevor Collins and seven great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Tomas DÃaz.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
