A.Wayne MacDonald – Age 77, beloved husband of Bernadette (Roberts) MacDonald died peacefully Tuesday, December 30 at their home with his family at his side.
He was born in Cambridge, June 29, 1948, a son of the late John Alexander MacDonald and the late Christine J. (MacLean) MacDonald and was raised in Brighton and moved to Billerica 41 years ago.
Wayne was employed at the MacGray Company for 25 years and later worked for the United States Postal Service for ten years. He was a member of the Scots Charitable Society of Boston and was a member of the Masons in Boston.
Besides his wife, Wayne is survived by his children, Ian MacDonald and his fiancé Derrie Helmer of Pepperell and Ashley Tsoukalas and her husband Derick of Billerica; his sisters, Muriel Carlo of Brighton and Debra Grinley of Londonderry, NH and his four grandchildren, Delaney and Cooper MacDonald, Jack and Lia Tsoukalas. He is also survived by Robert's extended family and many friends.
He spent his free time enjoying trips back to the farm in Canada and anywhere in Maine. You could find him sitting around the fire pit or attending any of his grandkids' school or sporting events.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, January 1 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Friday at the First Congregational Church, 18 Andover Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Wayne’s name to the Scot’s Charitable Society of Boston, www.scots-charitable.org/donate/ or the IMPACT Melanoma, www.impactmelanoma.org/donate/ His burial with military honors will be held at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
