LOWELL- William R. “Bill” Burton, age 54, beloved husband of Kelly A. (Sughrue) Burton, died Saturday at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after being diagnosed with lung cancer early September.
He was born in Lowell a son of the late William F. and Clara E. (McLeod) Burton and lived in Burlington before moving to his Lowell home of over 30 years.
Billy worked as a carpenter for many years. Aside from being a hard worker, he was known for his goofy lightheartedness. It was the simple things around him in life that he never took for granted, and never missed the chance to remind his family how fortunate and thankful he was.
Aside from his wife, Billy is survived by his son, William R. Burton Jr. and three daughters Brittany, Kelsey and Brenna Burton; his three sisters, Joanne Burton, Ruth Surprenant, Patty Vasilio; one brother, Dennis Burton; his father-in-law, John Sughrue of Billerica as well as many friends. He was the brother of the late Mary Burton and Martha MacDonald.
BURTON– Of Lowell, formerly of Burlington, Nov. 4. William R. “Bill” Burton. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
