Obituary for Marie A. Atchales
Marie A. (DiGiovanni) Atchales – Age 80, wife of the late Nicholas Atchales died Monday at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington. Marie bravely fought cancer for several months prior to her passing.
She was born in Somerville, May 17, 1936, a daughter of the late Leo and Anna (Matrundola) DiGiovanni and lived in Medford and Malden before moving to Billerica 27 years ago.
Marie was a former telephone operator and was an active member of St. Dorothy’s Church in Wilmington. Marie was at her happiest when spending time with family and friends.
The family would like to send special thanks to her many cherished friends in her church community.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Ann Marie DiNapoli and her longtime companion, David Alexopoulos of Haverhill and Jennifer Atchales of Billerica; her beloved sister, Joan Steeves of Newburyport and beloved grandchildren, Elyse and Andrea Alexopoulos. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
ATCHALES – Of Billerica, Sept. 12, Marie A. Atchales, A visitation will be held Monday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Dorothy’s Church, 120 Main St., Wilmington at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
