Obituary for Louis Romano Jr.
Louis Romano Jr. – Age 75, husband of the late Evelyn C. (Angelli) Romano died Tuesday at Lahey Clinic in Burlington surrounded by his loving children.
He is survived by his daughters, Suzanne Romvos and her husband Marc of Amesbury and Nicole Romano and Paul Egan of Ayer; his son, Louis Romano III and his wife Suzanne of Burlington; his sister, Virginia Moro of Stoneham and his grandchildren, Samantha and Emily Romano and Olivia Romvos.
Louis was born in Malden, January 2, 1942, son of the late Louis Romano, Sr. and Maria T. (Brogna) Romano. He spent his early childhood in East Boston before his family moved to Malden, where he attended Malden Catholic and graduated from Malden High School in 1960. He explored many career paths before he finally embarked on his career in the automobile industry. It was this choice that shaped the course of his life. This is how he would one day meet the love of his life, and future wife, Evelyn. Known by all in the car business as "Lou" or "Louie" Romano, he was employed over the years at various car dealerships. In the early days of his career he worked many years for the former, Wilmington Ford. As he advanced in the industry he took on a greater role as GM for dealers such as Herb Chambers Cadillac in Providence, RI and Staluppi's Atlantic Auto Mall in W. Islip, NY.
Louis and Evelyn married in 1966 and remained married for 45 years, until her passing in 2011. They spent the first 6 years of their marriage in Medford, before building a home in Billerica. In this home they raised three children and enjoyed entertaining family and friends for holidays or even just hanging out at the pool. Louis made many friends in Billerica and was a member of the Sons of Italy.
Louis was a self made man. He started out as a car salesperson, but with a lot of hard work, dedication, and drive to provide his family with a great life and private educations, he went on to eventually open his own successful marketing business with his wife. Out of all of his accomplishments, Louis was most proud of his grandchildren. They were truly his pride and joy.
Louis may not have been a man with traditional hobbies, but anyone who really knew him, knew of his love for music, cars, cooking and decorating his house with Christmas Lights.
He bestowed upon his children a strong work ethic. His focus and drive to succeed were unparalleled. This same focus and strength is how Louis fought his battle with cancer to the very end. He will remain an inspiration and be forever in our hearts.
