Obituary for Helen Marie Hughson
Helen Marie (O'Connor) Hughson - Age 88, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Tuesday.
She was born in Somerville, June 22, 1928, a daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Pehrson) O'Connor and was raised in Somerville before moving to Billerica in 1956.
Marie was a telephone operator at New England Telephone and the Bedford VA Hospital, from where she retired. She had a tremendous talent for quilting and sewing, and her handiwork could be found at local craft fairs. She volunteered at the Billerica Senior Center where she was known for her baking prowess. She was an avid reader and gardener, but most of her time and energy was dedicated to her loving family. Her comforting strength, her sweet warmth and her solid values live on through the grateful family she leaves behind.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Miller of Chelmsford; her sons, Scott Hughson and his wife Diane of Townsend, Mark Hughson and his wife Ivoneide of Lawrence, and Michael Hughson and his wife Kathy of New Ipswich, NH; sister of Robert O'Connor of Saugus and is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Kenneth and Pamela Hughson. She is dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
HUGHSON - May 9, Helen Marie (O'Connor) Hughson, A graveside service will be held Monday, May 15, 12:00pm at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica, MA followed by a Celebration of Life honoring her at the Courtyard by Marriott, 270 Concord Rd., Billerica, MA.
