Obituary for Francis E. McKenna Jr.
Francis E. McKenna, Jr. – Age 71, beloved husband, soul mate, and best friend of Judi (Baxendale) McKenna died Tuesday at their home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Cambridge, January 23, 1946, a son of the late Kathleen (Donahue), the late Francis E. McKenna, Sr. and his late wife Rita (Hodgkiss) McKenna. He proudly served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for six years. Mr. McKenna was an Arlington Police Officer for 41 years having retired as a Lieutenant in 2008.
Frank was an avid baseball fan. During the baseball season, Frank and his son took many trips to various ballparks and spent many winter days at Spring Training in Florida. After retiring, he was a Lowell Spinners season ticket holder. He enjoyed traveling especially his numerous trips to Hawaii with Judi. He enjoyed spending his time caring for his grandchildren and attending all their sporting events. He was their number one fan and favorite pal.
Besides his wife, Mr. McKenna is survived by his son, Timothy McKenna of Billerica; his daughter, Stephanie Haley and her husband Michael also of Billerica; his grandchildren, Michael Haley Jr. and Andrew “A.J.” Haley; his brother, David W. McKenna and his wife Judy of Arlington and his sisters-in-law, Elaine McKenna of Arlington and Anita Bloom of Lynn. And, his dear nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers, John M. McKenna, Donald McKenna, and brother-in-law, Richard Bloom.

McKenna Jr. Funeral Wednesday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8:45 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Irene Church, Carlisle at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cops for Kids with Cancer.
