Obituary for Edtih E.M. Lyford
Edith E.M. Lyford – Age 91, Beloved wife of Willis “Bud” C. Lyford Jr. died Sunday, Feb. 4 at the Neville Center at Fresh Pond in Cambridge.
She was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, April 17, 1926, the daughter of the late Fred K. and Elsa C. (Schurboehm) Asmussen and lived in Everett before moving to Wilmington in 1960.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Lyford operated the former Nichols – Lyford Funeral Home in Wilmington.
Mrs. Lyford is survived by her children, Richard and his wife Lynn of Winchester, Robert and his wife Jean of Chevy Chase, MD, Elaine and her husband Dana of Oakland, CA and Willis F. and his wife Wendy of Anchorage, AK. She is also survived by six grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Feb. 14 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 -7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel, 302 Elm St., Everett at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
